This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

This year, I had the pleasure of teaching, learning, and growing alongside a group of amazing scholars in a title 1 high school. My students are self-motivated, creative, and hardworking innovators who always strive for the best, despite the plethora of disadvantages that they endure on a day to day basis. Barriers such as high levels of poverty and extremely limited resources in and out of the classroom make it difficult for them to succeed.

The capability of my students is not a question, but in today's technology-driven society it is extremely difficult to advance without the proper tools and resources.

I am requesting a class set of tablets so that my scholars can have access to reading materials, typing programs, and thousands of other online resources that are necessary in order to raise reading and writing levels/scores. Please help my 9th graders succeed through the power of education.

My Project

I am asking for a class set of tablets with keyboards. Once this project is funded, my students will have a magnificent tool that will allow them to access millions of online resources. The classroom set of tablets are a day to day necessity as most of my students have very limited access to technology in their homes. The majority of them come from low-income households and 87% of them qualify for free/reduced lunch at school, which truly marks the gravity of their economic need.

I will not allow lack of proper funding to hold my students back from being the superstar readers and writers that I know they can be.

They are tech savvy individuals who would benefit greatly from having tablets in order to read the assigned texts and complete a variety of writing assignments.
