Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Ever since our school district started the Breakfast in the Classroom program, my life as a teacher has become a constant battle against crumbs. In order to keep the creepy-crawlies outside, my students and I must clean thoroughly and daily. A vacuum is a necessary weapon in this war. Help!
My students are the coolest kids in town!
Going to a magnet school in an enormous city means that many of my little ones have to start the morning with an extra early wake-up time and a long bus ride in traffic.
Our school is in a high-needs urban area, and the majority of my students qualify for the federal free lunch program. Although my ducklings lack financial resources, they have an incredible work ethic and desire to learn as they arrive every day. I want the classroom that they spend so many hours in to be a warm, welcoming oasis from the hectic noise of our urban streets. These books and educational materials will go a long way toward creating that friendly, fun, educational environment!
My Project
Sadly, I am not requesting instructional materials this time. This is my second attempt to get a vacuum for my beloved classroom, my second home, where my heart lives. In the past I have purchased vacuums with my own money and used them until they died... which has recently happened again. RIP Dirt Devil, you served us well. Because teachers are now required to serve food in our classrooms daily, and because 7 year olds trying to ingest crumbly muffins leads to inevitable crumb-valanches, and because Cheerios when stepped upon become weaponized into food-dust, and because our custodial staff is unable to keep up, our classrooms are now dirty magnets for ants, roaches, mice, rats, and other vermin. It is incredibly depressing. Still, I fight the good fight and vacuum daily to help keep the pests at bay. Please help!

Being able to vacuum all of the food waste out of our rug before it attracts bugs and rodents will keep our learning environment clean. I really, really need a vacuum for my classroom. Please help!
