This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a teacher at a Title I school, many of my students receive free or reduced price lunch and have extremely limited resources. My students are very bright and compassionate. They are naturally curious and driven. I may not be able to control what they face in life but I can control what they experience in my classroom.

I strive to provide them with experiences and an environment at school where they feel safe, respected, and loved.

As well as teach them the skills that they need for success in life not just in my classroom!

My Project

A wise person once said, "Kindness is the light that dissolves all walls between souls, families, and nations". Our world could use more kindness and my scholars need access to the novel "Wonder" written by R.J. Palacio to help spread that kindness.

In a world that is divided by differences I want to give my students the tools they need to change the world!We will use the novel to dive into real world topics such as kindness and acceptance.

In addition to the knowledge they will gain about kindness and acceptance we will cover the skills that they need to be successful readers.

The possibilities to extend this novel and the message it conveys are endless. I know the novel study will have an impact on them and they in turn will go out and impact the world!
