My Students

My students are hard-working, goal-oriented, and inquisitive little learners. As a 2nd grade teacher working in an area with students who are struggling economically, I want my classroom to be a safe haven for these students. They should get access to high-quality materials such as books, educational games, and a quiet comfortable reading area. Since many of my students do not have access to books and educational materials at home, my goal is to help my class get the tools they need in order to be successful. Truly these students are excited about learning and they want to reach their 2nd grade aspirations of becoming a life-long learner!

My Project

These materials are needed to help my students get a true hands-on experience with STEM related activities. My little learners absolutely love working in small groups on skills to solve a problem. They have previously become very inquisitive about many science and math projects we have worked on in class. In order to boost their interest in these projects, I would like for them to have access to these materials in-class and at home. When students become problem solvers, they can eventually become adults who will continue to solve problems. Fixing issues in their own community plus using the science and math knowledge they have gained will create successful learners into adulthood! So that’s why “We cheer for STEM gear!”
