My Students

Middle school is the age where students start to focus on the way they fit into the world and less on academics. In an area where approximately 50% of students are considered disadvantaged, academics is the key to more opportunities. Knowing both these things helps me to try and be creative with the way that I teach.

When given the right circumstances I believe that all students are capable of learning.

My math and science students are hardworking, respectful and highly inquisitive. No matter a student's current ability, I try to foster students self-confidence and self-affect through differentiated approaches to learning and assessment.

My Project

94 degrees! No that's not the angle measurement my students are finding. That is the hottest recorded temperature in my classroom. The average temperature during the warmer months here in Ewa Beach is around 80 degrees. Students are instructed to bring a water bottle, but even that can only do so much when it's hot and the air is stagnant.

Sadly, my students are usually fighting to be near the 4 fans I have in my room.

The wind does not usually blow through my classroom, so these fans are well needed.

There was a donation of fans a couple of years ago but those fans sadly were not as effective and did not last as long. I personally have a Lasko fan in my house and it is super effective, relatively quiet and easy for me to clean and maintain.
