My students need a variety of options for working and learning. These Safco standing desks are sturdy and durable enough to serve the 170 students that come into my classroom every day.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Middle-school students are at a stage between the somewhat naive elementary years and the too-cool high school phase. This time is a turning point in their lives where they decide who they want to be. My students are a fascinating blend of curious, silly, and insightful.
With almost 38% of students eating free or reduced lunch and many coming from unstable family and housing situations, I strive to make my classroom a safe and comfortable getaway for my wonderful learners.
As a school in a first-ring suburb, we are fortunate enough to have a blend of racial and socio-economic backgrounds in our school. Our school is becoming increasingly diverse, with over 40% students of color and many hard-working scholars who commute to us from the Twin Cities. My daily mission is to create an environment where all students feel welcome and successful.
My Project
Students are required to sit for long hours while at school. As many of us know, it can be hard to stay focused while sitting for extended periods of time. My middle school students are fidgety, and are eager for a solution that allows them to meet their needs and learn at the same time.
Standing desks allow students to stretch and move around while staying engaged in the lesson.
These desks give students the option for a work surface with greater mobility. Flexible seating is essential in my classroom because it provides students with choice. I provide a variety of seating options so that students can figure out how they work best, just like in the workforce.
