This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
We were suddenly displaced from our schools with little or no notice. Since then students who have technology and wifi have been using Zoom weekly to access instruction. Those students who do not have internet capabilities have been given workbooks and/or learning packets to continue instruction.
My Project
Before being dismissed from our physical learning environment, my special needs students were focused on improving our reading skills. Last year's standardized test scores indicated that these students had made significant gains in their reading abilities. We were very proud. Now the students have to work hard at home to ensure that they do not lose the new skills they have gained. My students are already below grade level and can't afford to lose learning opportunities.
These workbooks will be issued to parents and students so that students can continue their learning at home.
Special needs students and other students who are struggling will receive a workbook.
Hopefully, they will maintain most of their skills and continue to progress forward.
