This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students come from an urban community in the heart of southeast Washington, DC. Our school is a public school that strives to give students and families a variety of experiences beyond the traditional means of elementary school. We are a blended learning school where students use technology to enhance learning in all subjects.
My students are extremely special because they are transitioning from the Tools of the Mind curriculum and moving to a highly accelerated Kindergarten program that uses more than four blended learning platforms.
They must successfully complete their curriculum and prepare for the rigors of first grade.
My Project
I will use these LEGO curriculum tools to make interdisciplinary centers for students to use creative expression and practice problem solving skills. In literature, LEGOs will be used to demonstrate understanding of community helpers theme. In writing, LEGOs will be used to build visual stories. In science and math, LEGOs provide many different STEM and engineering activities. Students can allow use LEGO materials for role-playing and self expression, aiding with their social emotional growth.
LEGOs are an incredibly diverse and fun educational tool, the possibilities are truly endless!
These materials are literally the building blocks of learning and they would be an amazing addition to our creative classroom.
