My students need stretched artist canvas, sponge brushes and acrylic paint for a wonderful painting project as an incentive activity.
Setting goals is a way to achieve greatness.
For resource kids it's the way they can access the general curriculum and become free to progress with their peers. Having an incentive to do so is always helpful. Especially if it piques your interest!
Our resource students are from Kindergarten to sixth graders.
Coming into our classroom means they have a hard time mostly with math or reading or both. Many of them struggle with self-esteem and enjoy the extra kindness they receive in our positive, creative classroom!
My Project
I was an Artist in Residence before becoming a Special Education teacher. I taught thousands of students who lit up when they were able to paint a masterpiece! Their self-esteem was most affected by simply creating something beautiful. They will learn basic design techniques, paint a 16 x 20 canvas, just like a real artist, and take home a treasure they will keep. It will be a reminder of how hard they worked to reach a significant goal. We are requesting 16 x 20 inch student grade, artist canvases. We are also asking for colorful acrylic paint and sponge brushes to complete our project. As they progress throughout the year we have a prize wheel to give the kids positive reinforcement as well. Small prizes are also being requested.
