My students are AWESOME! I teach students in 1st grade through 5th grade and see them once per week for 45 minutes each week. They are excited about music classes and light up at the sight of our fabulous instrument cart!
Our school is in an area that is full of brilliant diversity, but is economically challenged.
Traditionally a textile area, our mills have closed and left many of our citizens unemployed or underemployed. Resources are limited, but our music cart doesn't have to be!
Kids love making music, and engaging instruments like large classroom drums and colorful instruments will help provide the inspiration! We will be able to practice skills such as keeping a steady beat, and reading and performing rhythms with a variety of shakers, scrapers, and beaters.
With your donation to this project, students can learn to move from the mundane to the extraordinary; they can learn to find their expressive voices.
The drums, guiros, claves, maracas, clatterpillar, and cabasa will join our existing library of rhythm sticks, small hand drums, triangles, and shakers. With a variety of instruments to choose from, students will get to experience a world of music-making!
