My students need 2 sets of Phonemic awareness boxes, 1 set of Rhyming Sorting Houses, 2 sets of Magnetic Sound Rhyming Boards, and 1 Rhyme and Read Activity Center.

As the song goes, We can make a Rhyme any old Thyme, but we need your help to get the resources needed to ensure my students rhyming success. I teach 23 curious and eager kindergarten students, many of which qualify for free and reduced lunches. Their parents work multiple jobs and have little time to spend helping their children.

Rhyming is a very hard concept for children. Using hands on materials is much more effective than using pictures or discussing words that rhyme. The more practice and exposure they get, the better at rhyming they will be.

Having materials such as the Rhyming Sorting Houses, the Read and Rhyme Center and the Match a Sound Awareness Boxes will allow my students the hands on materials needed to practice rhyming words. These activities will also be used to help teach beginning and ending sounds.

You will make it possible for my kindergarten students to practice and develop their ability to hear and match rhyming words. Rhyming is a building block to becoming a good reader. Funding this project will help to keep these curious and eager students on the ultimate road to success.
