My students are at-risk readers, who I support in small intervention groups. We work on using word solving skills, reading strategies, and comprehension strategies. My students are facing huge hurdles right now. Many of them have socioeconomic struggles to face, some more than ever before.
My students are excited learners during our regular school day, but are not connecting online during E-learning.
Their attendance on Zoom calls and assignments are not getting completed. We need to think differently about how to get materials in their homes, so they have an opportunity to learn without connecting to the school.
Parents are willing to help their student, but they do not have the necessary materials and resources to use. The parents are also overwhelmed, due to trying to work from home or being an essential worker. Many of my parents are struggling with the E-learning due to lack of experience with the technology and lack of reliable internet connections.
My students deserve a chance to keep learning!
My Project
My students still need to learn at home. They do not always have the materials to do so.
The books will help the students keep reading.
It is more important now than ever, to interest the students in books that are just-right, but interesting too. Reading online is not as engaging as having a book.
The games will be a fun way to practice the phonics skills that the children are practicing. The games can be enjoyed by the families and help bring them together during this time. Parents need a fun way to help their child.
