This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My school is located in East Flatbush, Brooklyn. We are a small family oriented school. Most of our students come from low income families with various cultural backgrounds and languages.
As a teacher in a low-income high poverty school district, the students are faced with challenges both in and out of school.
Some of our parents struggle to provide them with the necessities to start the school year. Many students come to school without a pencil everyday or wear the same uniform three days in a row. Even with these challenges the students come eager to learn.
My Project
The portable speaker will be used during morning line up and Student of the Month assembly. Sometimes it is hard to get 300 students' attention. This is especially true during student of the month assembly, where you have 300 screaming students. With this new speaker, our students will be able to hear their names being called.
It will make things so much easier with a portable speaker.
We would use the speaker for a variety of things. The speaker can be used for dance rehearsal and other enrichment after school activities. The portable speaker will be a great addition to our school and it will help the teacher and students hear loud and clear.
