Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are smart, beautiful, enthusiastic first graders. They come from a variety of cultures, races, and socioeconomic levels. Some of their home languages include English, Spanish, Arabic, Amharic, Vietnamese, Cambodian, and more. As a dual language school, all students are learning to read, write, and speak both English and Spanish.
These curious and persevering children are ready to meet any challenges and learn everything possible!
They always want to know more to make the world a better place. Many students come from low-income homes and have not been able to access resources and experiences that other children take for granted. This does not stop their drive!
My Project
Please give us headphones with microphones to help us connect with each other during distance learning. As we continue to learn daily in a distance model, hearing each other can be a challenge.
These bright and curious first graders want to connect with each other and share their thinking.
They love to share their ideas and they love to hear what each other has to say. Many students have siblings who are also learning from home and often have to learn in the same room. This makes it challenging for students to listen to our class and hear each other. The headphones and microphones will reduce the background noise and allow students to focus.
Many students also have not seen their friends outside of virtual learning since last March. Virtual learning provides not only an opportunity to continue their education but also an opportunity connect with their friends. They are hungry for conversations with their classmates and your donation will keep kids connected!
