My Students
This group of students is enrolled in Principle of Engineering, a Project Lead the Way course. They are all considering pursuing careers in various engineering or STEM related fields.
My students have diverse interests and ambitions, but they are all working towards being creative problem solvers.
Our school is located in a rural area of Upstate New York. Although our class is small, it is mighty. My students have demonstrated remarkable passion and motivation. I can't wait to see the great things they do in their lives!
My Project
In Principle of Engineering we apply the engineering process to a variety of topics through project based learning. My students explore topics such as simple machines, thermodynamics, and materials and structures with focus and precision. In addition to learning the 'big picture' ideas, we also apply mathematics to calculate specific values, like mechanical advantage, energy transfer, and applied loads.
In order to get accurate results in their calculations they need accuracy in their measurements, and the Vernier sensors will help them do that.
With these tools my students will learn how to take accurate measurements, apply those measurements, and calculate precise values using real-world problems.
