I teach in a third grade inclusion classroom in Monroeville, PA. Our school is in a low-income, high poverty area. The elementary school is a K-4 Title I school. This means all of the students in our building receive free breakfast and lunch.
Each student is unique in his or her own way.
Many of my students struggle with learning disabilities. While co-teaching with our learning support teacher, the two of us utilize numerous strategies to reach All of our students in order for them to experience success. Our team approach of facilitating instruction varies constantly, based on the students' various needs. This is our third-year teaching in an inclusive classroom together, a result of the tremendous success our students have demonstrated with the extra support and creative "out of the box" strategies we implement.
My Project
Distance learning this past spring taught me many things about myself as a teacher. One thing that did not change is my commitment to my students and families.
I need to make this blended/hybrid learning model successful for my students and easier on their families.
None of us have experienced this learning model yet. I will be teaching students face to face, while also live streaming for the students online at home, and recording lessons for the students and families that need to learn during "non-traditional" school hours. The webcam and document camera for distance learning will enable me to do all of this by providing my students a method to view my lessons in real time, while also enabling me to show both student and teacher work through the document camera. The AirPods will be beneficial for small-group and individual student online Zoom/Google Meets because they are noise-canceling, encouraging more concentration for both myself and my students. The tripod will permit me to use my Ipad to record my live lessons for the online learners that can not participate during traditional school hours, while at the same time allow me to "view" and "interact" with my online learners. The students will use Wholesale Kids Bulk Earbuds Headphones Earphones to help with their concentration and to eliminate the sharing of materials, which is even more necessary due to COVID. The Double Sided Dry Erase Boards and School Zone - Multiplication 0-12 Flash Cards will facilitate learning both in the classroom and at home by allowing for more student participation. The students will be excited to "interact" with their peers that are either online or in school with these materials.
