This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students come from challenging environments where aggression is often the answer to many problems. Some of my students have home, community and other issues. Some of them have trouble interacting appropriately with one another, teachers and administrators. These students have sometimes gone through some type of trauma, a divorce, or been the victims of abuse or neglect. Our district receives 100% free lunch for all students.
My students come from high crime and poverty-stricken areas.
Basic necessities are not often available to them. My students often feel as if no one notices them or acknowledges their positive behavior—only the negative. My students need multiple opportunities to learn and be successful in many different exploratory, fun, discoverable, and challenging ways.
My Project
The students in National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta are required to do service, show leadership, character, citizenship and scholarship. This means that they need to be versatile in their learning.
The students can use the Cricut machine to design their own t-shirts for competition and make their own unique materials for the various projects that they have to present at competitions.
The students can make their own honor stoles for graduation, and design book bags and design their own jackets.
