My students are all diverse in that we all come from varying degrees of socioeconomic status, background, and ethnicity. Yet, that is exactly what brings us together as a classroom community.
My students, however, are not without challenges.
They have experienced homelessness, incarcerated parents, foster homes situations and being with little or no food to eat. I am in awe of all they go through and still continue to persevere through these challenges. They are my heroes!
My goal is to prepare my students for the future, whatever it may look like, so that they may realize their dream of becoming whatever their hearts desire. My desire is to prepare my students for a world that may not be kind to them, but through technology, coding, and robotics, they will be able to create a kinder, more gentle nation that relies on character interfaces rather than judging someone based on outward appearances.
My Project
My students love to code but we are limited by our socioeconomic statuses. This iPad will mean they will be able to use technology that works and will not be hindered by the inability of having the right technology. This means that I do not have to be cautious of what I teach my students because they will be able to practice what I teach them without fear of not having the correct materials for them to practice on. My students are excited and eager to learn, and I have no doubt that these materials will fit right in with their eagerness!
