Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school serves Pre-K to 2nd grade students. I live in the neighborhood where I teach. It is a vibrant Latino community with a large immigrant population. Most students come from working poor families.
My students love to show their creativity through art.
They bring a lot of excitement to the art room. Every week they come ready to explore new ways to express themselves. This project would allow them to explore the world of architecture and create worlds of their own.
My Project
The books that we will use are highly engaging and will help the class jump into the world of architecture. Just like Iggy Peck, a character from the book, students will want to build! Iggy's love of buildings and his unyielding curiosity will no doubt get students excited about architecture.
Students will use the LEGO building kits to explore buildings from around the world.
They will use the classic LEGO building sets to create their own designs for buildings. The wooden blocks will be used to take a step back in history and explore the Colosseum and the Great Pyramid.
