My Students

The students that I work with come from a variety of educational backgrounds. Our school is a kindergarten through 8th grade, NYC public school where students with language learning and motor impairments are integrated into a general education classroom setting. Children have all different learning styles and seating needs. These new tables will help us to adapt the height of the tables for students of all different sizes, wheelchairs, walkers, and other needs.

As a speech therapist, my role is to aid students in improving their speech and language skills as well as to assist them in becoming active members of their classroom community.

My Project

My students need adaptive tables and chairs that support their participation for seated activities. These chairs help children sit up, engage in table-top activities and socially interact with other peers by remaining in one area in comfortable seating. The tables are able to be moved up or down to accommodate the students who have different seating needs (e.g., wheelchairs of different sizes). Also, as I work with students of different grades I am able to adjust the height of the table accordingly. Good seating posture enables students to do their best work. In addition, the dry erase table will allow for my students to work and interact in a fun way.
