My students need an amazing and memorable end of year field trip! We do one every year and it sends the children off with happy thoughts to start their summer.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
"The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page." ~ Augustine of Hippo. This quote says it best: opening up the world to my students through exciting field trips is a goal I set for myself since I started teaching. I want them to have fantastic "travel memories" of Second Grade!
We are a grade made up of 62 imaginative, loving children.
My school is located in District 23 in NYC, one of the smallest and poorest neighborhoods in the city. Due to the fact that my school is not adequately funded, we cannot pay for all the children to attend field trips, so the burden falls on the parents and that causes an extra hardship for them. My children lead difficult home lives and I choose to change their perspectives on their future by exposing them to the world around us.
Although many of them are faced with adult problems, they come into my classroom happy and eager to learn. When I announce a new field trip date and destination, their eyes and smiles light up like Christmas lights! Most of them are eager to know that there is more to the world than the difficulties they face day in and day out. It is my duty and desire to give these children an experience of a lifetime, which would be greatly supported by these dynamic field trips.
My Project
We will be taking the children to The Land of Make Believe. Our students will be riding exciting roller coasters and slipping and sliding on winding water rides. They will ride on a bumpy hayride and visit the "Old McDonald's Farm." They will learn how to work together, have patience and most of all how to release stress through fun and laughter.
This donation will give our students an "end of the year" experience they will never forget!
We are all about ending the school year with a BANG, and for sure this trip to The Land of Make Believe, will do the job.
Our children work best when they are working towards a positive goal. This amazing field trip will create lasting memories with our students and their parents! Please help us achieve our goal and put smiles on the faces of our second graders!
