My students need four Chromebooks in order to have the opportunity to interact with and learn from current technology that will prepare them for college and the workforce.
The opportunity for my students to interact with cutting edge technology while exploring content in a more meaningful way is what will most impact their academic achievement.
My students are brilliant, hilarious, curious, and creative young men from the west and south sides of Chicago.
They enter my classroom from a host of different circumstances and with a host of different abilities, but each of them is working towards our school's comprehensive mission that preaches college readiness and persistence.
As exceptional learners, many of my guys have been failed by the very education system that is supposed to protect them. Many are the product of labels and low expectations; others have simply been written off by their former teachers. I work each day to inspire these young men and change their mindsets about school, while also tapping into skills and talents they possess that are so crucial to their ability to learn.
Our school's mission is to provide a comprehensive, high quality education that results in our students succeeding in college. The addition of four Chromebooks to my classroom will revolutionize my ability to effectively extend our mission to our young men with special needs. This technology will allow me to prepare engaging, visually stimulating lessons that are differentiated to meet the exceptional needs of each student in my classes. It will also allow me to provide real-time instruction, communication and feedback to students who need it the most. I plan to take full advantage of blogging, interactive journaling, and other activities that will aid me in changing my students' mindsets about education.
I am so confident that the addition of Chromebooks to my everyday instruction will not only revolutionize the way my students learn in high school but will also prepare them with the skills necessary for success in college.
