Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are first graders who love to read and write. Many of these students come from families where English is not the primary language spoken at home. My students come from low income families. They work so hard to achieve their goals. They write daily and need primary writing journals to let them have a space to write about the books we read, science experiences that they participate in and their thoughts and feelings about their world.
Our neighborhood surrounding our school is inner city.
Many parents of my students work hard to support their children and want them to get a good education. Help my sweet hard working students learn and obtain the materials they need to become more confident writers and authors.
My Project
These Primary Writing Journals and crayons will be used by first graders to write and illustrate their experiences in their daily lives, science experiments, and books they have read. They need these materials to help them become confident creative writers.
My first graders need primary writing journals and crayons to write and illustrate about their daily lives, experiences we have in class and the many books that we read and that they will read themselves this year.
We have a Science Program that fosters writing about the experiments they perform. These first graders explore real world materials and learn about light and sound, weather and plants and animals. They will write about these experiences.
We read many different types of books both fiction and nonfiction. These journals will help my students to respond to their reading by giving them a place to write and draw about the books that we read When you write about what your read, you build comprehension.
These first graders love to write and draw. Writing about your daily experiences helps these students foster early literacy. They become confident writers as well as readers.
Help fund this project so that these first graders can become Wild About Writing!
