My students need a GeoSafari Talking Globe Jr, Interactive Map, and Globe Stress Balls to help them gain a deeper understanding about the world in which they live.

My first-grade scholars attend a school that has been designated as 'Trauma Sensitive'. This school provides 100% free/reduced lunch. Due to this circumstance, my scholars have a distinct disadvantage due the neighborhoods, in which they live, and their home experiences. With this said, they come to school everyday with a desire to learn. This desire is not only for knowledge in language arts, mathematics, social studies, and science, but for social/coping skills along with a large variety of other needs. When my scholars walk into the school and eventually into my classroom, it is my responsibility to provide them with the optimal learning space and learning experience.
My scholars deserve adequate supplies and resources to help them be successful in their learning.
They come into the doors of this school, everyday, carrying a lot of baggage. While this is the case, they deserve and are entitled to a quality education. Regardless of circumstance, my scholars need to be in a learning environment that is safe and one that promotes and enhances a love of learning in every way.
This project was an inspiration from my 1st grade scholars. They are always curious about the world, where they live, and how they are a part of it. Several of my scholars have asked a lot of questions during our social studies lessons. Most recently, we had a discussion regarding communities and how they are different in certain parts of the world. There was a specific request to see in which part of the world these communities are located.
My students need a facts globe and an interactive map to enable them to gain answers to these lingering questions.
This will help them to feel successful in the information that they need to know in their learning. Hands on resources are always helpful in making the learning more meaningful.
We also have students that have specific emotional needs so to help them, we need calming stress balls. This will help me infuse the learning within my scholars, even during times of need. If I can provide these resources then it will be a win win situation for all students.
