We Are the Makers of Costumes and Dreamers of Dreams!
Help me give my students a dress form, rotary cutter and mat, sewing notions, and an Elfinbook Smart Wirebound Notebook to make their costume ideas come to life!
Hans Christian Anderson once said, "Where words fail, music speaks." Many students in middle school are self-conscious about singing in their General Music classes due to the challenge of changing voices.
To allow their music to speak, my students need other outlets for their voices to be heard.
My students range from grades six through eight. My kids come from suburban neighborhoods, rural farms and public housing. My kids come from a small geographic region, but they have a vast array of life experiences. I have personally purchased many things for my music classroom such as music, piano keyboards, and small drums in order to give my students the opportunity to have a hands-on musical experiences. Over the years, my classroom has developed into a hands-on creative learning space which is used for a variety of classes from music to theater! It is my hope to allow my students to experience the music of all of the cultures of the world, as well as all that the world has to offer!
My Project
These items will be used by our theater class in order to create everything from costumes to props. In addition, these items are foundation items of our new theater maker space!
These items, along with our classroom sewing machines, will be used to create all of the costumes for our school's musical, both for this year and for years to come!
Our students will use the Elfinbook Smart Notebooks in theater class to create costume ideas. From there, the ideas that they create will be able to be uploaded to a digital file when students can work with various fabric designs and colors to create their final costume design. Students will then use the rotary cutter, mat, and sewing notions in order to prepare for costume construction. Students will use the adjustable dress form in order to assure a perfect fit for the costumes. By allowing my students to have these opportunities, they are learning skills that will last a lifetime!
