Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
In order for change to occur for my students, they need access to technology that heightens their learning. Many of my students do not have the technology available at home, and the classroom is also limited. Assisting with funding for this project will grant them the ability to change.
My students have a need to quench their thirst for knowledge.
They are little sponges that soak up everything they learn every day at school. I want to supply them with the necessary tools and opportunities that they need to become successful scholars. Most of my second graders are English Language Learners in a school that is located in an extremely low income area. Technology is not very accessible to my students out of the school environment. They love technology and enjoy using it when it is made available. All of my students will greatly benefit from having access to an iPod Touch as often and possible.
My Project
My students need 3 iPod Touch devices to upload and be able to listen to stories from the CD library. They will be able to take AR quizzes that will test their reading comprehension. This device also provides an array of free education apps that will allow my students to practice their reading, spelling, math, social studies, science, and art. Having access to this technology will empower my students with the tools that they need to succeed.
With all the budget cuts that we have to deal with, funding is very tight and we are provided with the bare minimum.
I want to be able to change that for my students who are already facing economic issues at home - they shouldn't have to hear that at school too. Funding this project is also eco-friendly because there are hundreds of books that can be read on an iPod Touch. That will save many trees from being destroyed. Please make the change that we seek!
