My students are in a Transition Program and transitioning to be productive young adults. In school, they are learning to be an independent citizen and focusing on their academic and career goals in life. This is an exciting time for them to be learn about themselves and show their preferences, interests, abilities, and goals.
Our group spend time learning academic and life skills courses while in the school; we also spend time doing community-based instruction to learn outside of school at least twice a week, as well as internship activities at school which they enjoy.
The work we do in the classroom is building relationships, strengthening skills, focusing on life goals, and accessing general education content in different ways to align to their career path in life. We celebrate little wins together each day.
My Project
My students come from low-income household, getting technology they need for everyday use seems far reach with every passing time. They are young adults that will soon venture to their own career path. With this technology request that they can use in the school and at home will give them a break in the career that will sought after too.
With our technology era today, a tablet or a laptop will boost an edge to anyone who are on the start of their career.
I believe this opportunity will help my students achieve the first step on setting their career path. They will need tablet to be use at school for projects and activities. They will also use the same tablet to continue their work from school to home. They can use the technology in polishing their skills, gaining more knowledge on how technology works. Creating their resumes, using internet for applying to work, crafting their typing skills and many more. It is only possible when this project get funded from the supporter on this platform. My students are young adults with cognitive disabilities, this project will enable them to compete with anyone in the workforce when they can be taught how technology work on their advantage.
