A classroom should be a comfortable place for students to learn and work cooperatively. My students are engaged in making choices in their education all throughout the day.
Giving children choice in all aspects of their education will boost their enthusiasm towards learning.
In reading workshop my students are able to choose their own books to read, in writing workshop my students are able to choose what they write about, in Math my students can choose the numbers they are working with and they are even able to choose the best learning environment for their style of learning. It is my hope to teach my students how to make good choices and learning this skill will carry them through the rest of their lives.
My Project
To begin Kindergarten we go on an adventure with books. We read learn about the world books trying to learn all we can and we also read some old favorites storybooks in order to become storybook readers. It is essential to have a lot of each title so the children can choose which old favorite they want to read and then spend a lot of time reading it and loving it like so many of us do with our favorites.
Quantity of books and quality of the literature are first and foremost.
Therefore, I have chosen these old favorites carefully so help the children both love, understand and be able to read and retell the stories.
