My students live in Queens, which has been the "epicenter" for the COVID-19 outbreak in NYC. We left the school in mid-March and will not return for this school year. My students miss our classroom and community. We meet daily via video conferencing, but it is not the same. Though this whole situation is less than ideal, the students do their best to continue learning.
My Project
Our school year, together in a physical classroom ended 7 weeks ago, and the writing of this proposal. Our school year on line began at this time, and will continue until the end of June. Even though we are apart, I would like to give the students a book, journal and Mad Libs to help support their literacy skills.
One of the challenges of teaching on line is the amount of screen time.
I want the students to have options to read and write off screen. These materials will help with this. We will be able to read a physical book together and the students can write on their own. They can practice their grammar skills with the Mad Libs.
