My students need lots of sensory input such as deep pressure vests to regulate themselves so they may participate in general education classrooms.

My Students
I have the privilege of teaching K-5 students with Autism. I choose teaching so that I could impart knowledge and guidance, but instead, it is my students who are teaching me. Daily, they teach me how to feel pure joy, kindness, unconditional love and most importantly, that we are all gifted.
They greet each day with a smile and a willingness to give it all they have.
Our entire school is positively affected by their spirit. My class is hope.
My Project
Students with autism have a more difficult time adapting to all the stimulus in life (loud noises- fire drill, school assemblies, general education inclusion, lawn mowers, fluorescent lights, etc.). The deep pressure vests and body sox will calm students after they have had a lot of sensory input. The fish tunnel will help get their bodies back in line so they may regroup which allows them to have a successful day.
The stool will help release 'wiggles' to allow for better concentration.
ADHD is sometimes a secondary problem to autism, this stool will allow safe body movement while working.
