My Students

My students are at the age when the world is a fascinating place! They love to discover the what, why, where, when of everyday life. I want to develop their knowledge by creating studies using non-fiction books.

My students are 4 and 5 years old.

They are super bright, very inquisitive, and always ready to learn. Fortunately, they attend an all-day, public preschool where academics and developmental appropriate learning takes place. Since my students attend an all-day preschool, I have theme studies that can last as long as the students have an interest. We use our outdoor garden as a mini science lab and I involve the related arts teachers in helping further our themes.

My Project

The non-fiction theme book library would be a wonderful addition to helping the students become actively engaged in the inquiry process. My students will develop their knowledge using genre studies in the themes represented in the non-fiction theme book library. In our technological world, children have immediate access to information, but there is nothing that will replace having an actual book in their hands to delve into!

This will provide learning opportunities for my current students but will also accessible for future students- just think of how many students can be impacted by a non-fiction library set!
