Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My kindergarten students speak six languages and represent six countries! My students are curious, energetic, and they love learning.
My students spend their day learning in both English and Spanish.
We are a low income, dual language community school, where everyone knows each other. They have built such a close community and really help one another grow as friends and learners. They do not always have all of the resources they need at home, but they care so much about learning.
My Project
A sub left me a note once that said “I have never seen any kindergarten class that is so good at cleaning up and organizing their supplies!” This made me so proud of them and I think it is a very important skill for them to have. During the day we do lots of work in small groups and each student is in the red, yellow, green or blue group. Having color coordinate tubs for the groups to keep their work in would help them practice responsibility, and take away leas instruction time of me having to do it for them!
