My students need flexible seating to be comfortable, engaged and happy interacting with their peers and materials. They need access to private reports and quick assess to specific graphic organizers and Reading Logs.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I work in a low income school as a RTI teacher. That means I teach Reading Intervention to students who score two or more years below their grade level in reading. However, all of the kids at our school are "mine." We truly believe that it takes a Village to raise a child, and our school is definitely that Village.
My RTI Reading classroom accommodates around 70 students per day.
Students arrive in small groups and work on various phonemic skills. Fourth and Fifth grade students work on a specific reading program that requires them to work in small groups on laptops, chapter books and with me.
I need flexible seating!
Last year, thru this wonderful charity, I was able to purchase three bean bags. Man, are they popular. My students would really appreciate more flexible seating choices. They truly appreciate the privacy to read in a quiet corner, or to sit comfortably on the floor.
My Project
I service up to 70 students per day in my Reading RTI classroom. My students range from second to fifth grade.
Reading is our focus, with most of my students reading up to two years below their grade level.
One thing is for sure, when they do come to my room, they need to feel comfortable, engaged and outside of the everyday classroom.
Last year, thru Donors Choose, I was able to purchase 3 bean bags. Boy, are they ever popular. The students really want more flexible seating as they do a good bit of reading on the floor.
My fourth and fifth graders are involved in a reading program titled, 180. They are looking at reading in a whole new way, digging deep into text and being supported by technology. This program requires many reports, some of which are of a private nature. Last year, Donors Choose purchased a printer and ink for me. This year, I purchased my first round of ink. I will not be able to continue purchasing ink, and cannot sign up for a wireless program that would save me money, due to a district firewall. Therefore, I am asking for two more packages of ink to get me through the year.
All of my requests will enrich my learning environment, speed up the rate at which students receive their reading logs, graphic organizers and reports, and do so in a warm and inviting classroom.
