Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach in an amazing program that supports students that are both new to the United States, and often new to school. My students come to school every day excited and eager to learn. My program provides these students an opportunity to thrive and share their experiences, talents, and capabilities.
All of my students are refugees from around the world who love the opportunity to show their classmates and peers how much they have learned.
I have an incredible group of students and it is really a privilege to be able to be a part of their educational journey.
My Project
Having access to books is an essential part of learning to read and write in a new language. My students are English language learners who have been in the country for a short period of time but are always excited to learn something new.
By donating to our project, you will not only be providing new books to students but increasing academic achievement for refugee students.
Students will each receive 3 new books that are at their reading level to keep at home. These books will be used to read with the teacher but also be added to their at-home libraries.
