My students need prefix and suffix word building tiles, accountable talk reading discussion starters, find the evidence clips, and close reading comprehension teaching center.
My students sit in a classroom that is culturally balanced. My students come from various countries and speak various languages at home. The students in my class come from families that are struggling financially. The students attend a Title I school where funds are limited to purchase things that will enhance their learning outside of a textbook.
The students in my class are hands-on learners, and learn better without a pencil in their hands.
Many of my students also suffer from attention deficit disorder, in which distraction overrides their learning
My Project
The reading materials that I am requesting for my students will help me improve the relationship between home and school. The past few years the biggest push in our district is reading, but we have found that our students are missing something at home to help them be great readers: BOOKS! I will be using these books for students to take home and practice reading every night with. Students will learn how to recognize books that are too hard and too easy so they can pick just right books. We also look forward to using the take-home storage bags.
The items I need to help with my literacy instruction will enhance and challenge what they already know.
