This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our school serves children from very low income homes. My students are very hard working 5-6 year-olds and very excited to learn. Most of them live with a single parent who have a hard time making ends meet. They need school materials that cannot be provided for them at home.
For these eager kindergartners who are learning how to be a good friend, learning how to read is a big challenge.
As they begin to learn how to become a reader, they need the appropriate tools to help them develop the skills in reading.
My Project
My kindergartners love to write and are now learning how to write simple sentences. Instead of using papers, which gets expensive after a while, or dry erase white boards with dry erase markers, which is really expensive, a Magna Doodle board is a real great alternative.
Using the Magna Doodle boards will save trees and students will not be exposed to the strong odor that comes from the dry erase markers.
I would like to be able to let the students write and rewrite their sentences as many times as they want and not be wasteful at the same time.
