I teach in K-5 in an elementary school and am constantly cutting paper to fit the requirements of our art projects. Since we have over 900 students at our school, I spend much of my time after school cutting paper.
We had a beloved paper cutter that had been purchased for the school in 1972. Finally, after 37 years of hard use, the arm fell completely off. It could not be repaired. It was finally time to put the beloved paper cutter to rest. Our school can not afford to replace it, so we salvaged a small, abandoned cutter from a storage closet. To use the cutter, I have to force the bladed arm towards the cutter, otherwise, it only bends the paper. Because the blade is dull, I can only cut 4 pieces of paper at the time. Lately, I have been staying after school for three hours each day just to get all of the paper cut and ready for class. A new, large paper cutter would make life easier and would make our projects look much better!
We need a thirty inch paper cutter that is capable of cutting poster board when needed. Now, our small cutter is only fourteen inches, so much of the large paper has to be cut by hand. I would love to buy one for the art room, myself, but my resources are so stretched already.
Your help will ensure that our projects look neat instead of "chewed". I will have to spend much less time cutting paper. Therefore, I will have more time to plan fabulous projects and more time to attend to the needs of my students. I, also, will be much less frustrated and will probably have less grey hairs! We all will appreciate your help so very much!
