My students need access to technology. By adding 8 Kindle fire tablets, I will have a tablet at every table. Technology is the way my students will progress academically and prepare for the future.
Teaching kindergarten is a fun and busy job. I try to make my classroom a safe and comfortable place for my students to be themselves and learn. My school is a Title I school with 87 percent of our students participating in the free and reduced priced lunch program. Several of my students participate in the weekend food backpack program, so they have food over the weekend. I have 28 active students in my ELD (English Language Development) class.
Living in poverty sets my students at a disadvantage right from the beginning of their academic career.
My hope is to provide them with opportunities and experiences that will close that disadvantage gap. I work hard to give them a solid foundation based on social skills, academics, and technology. My hope is that they gain a love of learning. I can not think of a better way to help close the disadvantage gap.
My Project
Adding 8 Kindle Fire Tablets to my classroom will give each table of students a tablet to document their daily work. My students use the app; Seesaw to make videos or pictures and voice overs to document their work. Through this process, I, their peers and their parents can view their daily work. The students read and answer comprehension questions, spell sight words, explain addition or subtraction problems.
Technology provides the necessary edge my students need to succeed academically.
There are many reading and math apps that can give remedial help or challenge the more advanced student. My goal is to expose my students to a daily dose of technology
