"We will always have STEM with us. Some things will drop out of the public eye and will go away, but there will always be science, engineering, and technology. And there will always, always be mathematics." ~Katherine Johnson
My students have a great love for learning and exploration of new ideas, especially those that relate to STEM.
They come from diverse backgrounds and have many different learning styles, strengths, and needs. They learn best when they are able to explore and create their own learning through engaging experiences. The more excited they become about a project or topic, the more they are able to gain from it.
We are located in a rural town and are a very close knit community. Many of the families at our school have been in the district for generations.
My Project
As a classroom teacher, my job is to help get my students excited about all kinds of learning including the practical applications of science, technology, engineering and math to their daily lives.
Using applied sciences such as coding is becoming a necessary skill in our children's future careers and lives in general.
My students are very enthusiastic about STEM projects and love to complete computer programming activities. They have had many experiences with coding online to create stories, pictures, and other animated projects. They have also used coding to play games that require them to solve problems in order to be successful. The Sphero Mini: The App-Controlled Robot Ball would take their learning to the next level. They would go from seeing their ideas come to life on screen to being able to actually make technology work in the real world. This would facilitate creativity, teamwork, and problem solving all while developing their engineering skills. STEM learning opportunities are so very important to our students for their future learning and careers.
The Sphero Mini: The App-Controlled Robot Ball will enrich so many learning experiences for years to come. Thank you for reading my DonorsChoose project!
