All I've ever wanted to do was teach, which is why I am so excited about my first year of teaching. I can't wait to give my best to my students every day! They are always so kind and caring, and they truly do make me a better person. I want to give to them what they have given to me.
The students at my school come from a variety of backgrounds and walks of life.
Regardless of where my students come from, they all come to school eager to learn and excited for a new and hands-on experience. They are all little sponges that love soaking up information.
My Project
Madisonville is a small rural town, most people that work here in Madisonville work with livestock, are farmers, or work at local establishments. Jobs such as coding or jobs in the computer science field are far and few between.
The Osmo program will help give my students a glimpse of what coding is and hopefully show them that a job in science, technology, engineering, or math fields can be possible for them.
Most of my students have no idea what STEM is so showing them through a tablet and the Osmo program will be both exciting and non-traditional. My students love technology, we currently have 5 laptops and 2 Kindles and the students nearly fight over them. The Osmos would be the perfect addition to my classroom.
The Osmo program is a hands-on way to solve a real-world problem. Most children, teenagers, and even some adults don't know how or struggle to give change. The Osmo system will reinforce fact fluency and financial literacy through the Numbers and Pizza Co. programs. The technology comes to life through manipulatives, which is rare with apps. Not only will this project increase my students academically but it will solve a real world problem
