Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are exceptionally hard workers. Many of them come from backgrounds in which they have to work part-time jobs, take care of their families, as well as manage their academics and extra-curricular activities.
My students continue to change my life daily.
Many people often think a classroom is centered around a teacher teaching students, but the truth is, I learn more about hard work, dedication and persistence everyday I am around them. Please continue to support my amazing and dedicated musicians in whatever we may need!
My Project
The schools in my district are projected to grow in the next year or so. Because of this, our programs will continue to grow as well. With more bodies in the room, we will be in need of more instruments. With more instruments, we will be closer to putting every kid on their own instrument. This is crucial at the beginning stages of learning an instrument because it will allow students to be able to take instruments home to practice, improve and bring the skills back for the betterment of the ensemble.
When a student is given an opportunity to learn an instrument, they are also given the opportunity to build upon other positive elements of their lives such as teamwork, community, empathy and self-confidence.
They are also offered many future opportunities such as scholarships and networking. Every student should be allowed to embark upon a journey within music education. Please help me give every student an instrument so that they can start their journey!
