Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
This year, I am teaching 2nd Grade in Springfield, MA.
IMAGINE: you're an at-risk elementary school student, who needs basic materials to learn.
You want more than anything to improve, but you're against all odds.
You attended all your Zoom meetings every day despite the fact that it is hard. And this year will be their first year back in school.
You're a second-grader who has a heavy mind, minimal sleep, and a rumbling tummy....
Despite the challenges, they come in ready to learn EVERY DAY. To accomplish their goals, though, they need a few things: encouragement, support, and motivation... and most of all, a calm, flexible, and organized classroom
My Project
This year my students and I will be starting right where we left off in May. We will be moving up from 1st grade to 2nd grade together as a community. These items will help us stay organized and help calm our bodies as we transition back into the school building. Some of my students will be entering the school building for the first time as second-grader. Imagine never having to sit at a desk until this year? My goal is to create an environment that is comfortable and calm!
