My students need cases to help protect the few working instruments we have. They also need reeds to keep them playing.

My Students
My students are inner city children who face many challenges but who have one thing in common: a passion for music, both to listen and to create. The families are very financially challenged but they value education and they recognize something many suburban areas have forgotten: music is a key to learning. These families value education and want their children to gain skills that will allow them a better opportunity in tomorrow's job market.
There is such joy in their cultural music, expressed not only in the classroom but in family gatherings or group meetings.
Even school events can trigger spontaneous performances.
My Project
A band is a wonderful thing for any community but this particular inner city community needs music to thrive and survive. We have older instruments but they need cases to protect them and some still need mouthpieces and reeds to operate.
This community uses music as their means of preserving their history and culture while learning what they need to be successful in a new environment.
They recognize that music is core to learning but are financially challenged to provide for basic needs, let alone any type of music program. By helping us acquire cases for these instruments, you are helping us to preserve the lifespan and musical integrity of these instruments.
