Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is known for assisting students who speak different languages. Our English Learner students' living conditions should not be a deterrent that limits their education. Every student, regardless of their status, should be welcomed and know that school is a safe haven where they can come to learn and develop life saving skills and friendships. All students are encouraged to begin their day with a warm smile and a positive attitude before getting started with our day. By greeting each student with a warm smile, we let them know that we are going to have a rewarding learning day.
I am a 4th grade teacher at a Title I school in Las Vegas where 100% of our students receive free breakfast, lunch, snack and most need to take a weekend nourishment bag home.
Despite challenges and hardships, every student should begin their day by feeling loved and confident to learn and try their best. Students want to be recognized as individuals and know that education is the key to having opportunities so that they can finish high school and be the first to attend college and/or trade school and be prepared to a face any challenge.
My Project
These Chromebooks will make a difference in motivating students to write, since some have gaps in their learning that impede them from writing. Some students lack materials and background knowledge to want to voice their opinions. These materials it will allow students to conduct research and create PowerPoint presentations to help build their confidence.
Most students who have a high rate of absences are often the ones who lack the skills to learn.
With these Chromebooks I can motivate these students to type on subjects they are not familiar with. With continued motivation they can thrive despite some unfortunate setbacks.
