Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My student are embarking on a new unit in Social Studies in which they will learn about the contributions to music ,literature and dance that occurred during the Harlem Renaissance. Please help us to bring this unit to life by allowing us to create pieces of art that reflect our learning.
My students are a bright group who have many different learning styles.
The majority of my class is considered "at risk", and with the budget shortfalls, our charter school has lost quite a bit of funding. I am finding it increasingly difficult to provide the materials to my students that help to make lessons fun and engaging. We will use the paints to create a mural of the prominent figures of the Harlem Renaissance. We will use the CD/cassette recorder to listen to the the jazz greats of the time period too!
My Project
This project will enable my students to learn about an era in US History that was about "expression". This project will allow my students access to vivid colors to recreate their renditions of art rendered during this time. This project will also enable them to learn about musical pieces that they otherwise would never have knowledge of. This project is intended to broaden their horizons beyond what they have become used to.
This project is important because it will present a fun, hands on way of learning about such an important time in US History.
It will also allow them to see where most of the music, dance and art that they are familiar with originated.
