My Students
My students have no idea how much they teach "ME" about life and as a man. Regardless of the poverty that many of them come from, they are always excited and wanting to learn. They are the most appreciative students I have ever met in my life.
My students attend a beautiful school in the heart of a town that has migrant workers and farmers.
Many of them come into my classroom and they have a tough time speaking English but when they leave sixth grade not only are they reading and writing but they are advance proficient in Math! They are amazing, awesome students that make me incredibly proud to be their teacher as well as their friend.
My Project
Being that technology is so prevalent in today's society, and that my students enjoy technology, I consistently try to integrate technology into many of my lessons. The majority of my students do not have computers at home so I try to give them the experience in my class. By using technology it will provide them a better chance of being successful.
I am trying to obtain funding for a series of computer generated software which will allow my students to take in new information, and transfer such key concepts as "fractions, multiplication facts, and learning how to read a math word problem" which will further their knowledge so that will transfer to their independent work allowing them to feel more successful and learn more each day.
My students will be able to use the requested manipulatives to clearly see examples of math problems. We learn by example, and the computer software will give my classes a chance to see clear examples of math problem solving.
When you hear Facebook or Xbox what do they bring to mind for you?
What emotions do you associate with them? Have you heard of them before? All children have, and they almost certainly have strong opinions about them. While many new technologies have emerged throughout history, so has the cry for educators to find meaningful ways to incorporate these technologies into the classroom. It is crucial to use that excitement over games to stimulate their love of learning. Thank you.
