I am a Special Education Teacher at a Title 1 Elementary school in Hilo, Hawaii. I teach 4th grade in an inclusion setting with a co-teacher. In our grade level, our students rotate for math, ELA, and sciences, therefore we will see each and every 4th grade student in our school (nearly 175 students!)
It is important to us that each and every student comes to school excited to learn everyday.
As an inclusive classroom we understand that the world can be a challenging place. We want our classroom to feel like a safe place where students can learn and explore together.
We are transitioning our classroom from a traditional classroom setting to a flexible inclusive setting. This half-moon table is the perfect addition for our classroom. We intend for this table to be used as part of the flexible seating offered in our inclusion class.
A half-moon table will give students the ability to converse and work together on projects.
This table will also be part of the free seating options. We try our best to empower our students to sit where they work best. We plan to pair this table with colorful free standing stools. This will allow the students to adjust their areas for each assignments or project.
