I work at a Title I school. Over 95% of the students receive free or reduced lunches. I teach 4th and 5th grade gifted language arts. My students are like most students their age. They are motivated to learn, despite some of the struggles that go on outside of school for them.
My students come from hardworking families.
Some of the families are struggling more than others. Even though these struggles sometimes have an effect on the students academic progress, for the most part, they are strong-willed little individuals. They persevere despite their difficulties.
My Project
I teach writing and reading. At this point in the school year, we are doing a lot of writing. Both of my electric pencil sharpeners are broken. My students only use pencils to write their essays, so sharpening pencils is a constant challenge in my class.
My students enjoy doing fun and creative activities.
I like to have the materials available for them to do so. It is the middle of the year and I am running low on many of the items such as glue sticks and markers. Restocking these items would be so helpful, and I would be extremely grateful!
