This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
We are a large inner-city school in the heart of one of Chicago's worst neighborhoods. We are located directly in the center of the violence that you are hearing about on the news. Once our students enter into the building they leave behind the gangs, the violence, the poverty, the drugs, the abuse and they become children again.
They become vulnerable, trusting, malleable, just what kids should be. They dream big and still believe all things are possible, that they can slay dragons with a paper sword.
My Project
With these art supplies, we are going to explore the world of art through creativity. We are going to create outside of the box. With this project, we will be creating our very own art gallery! The students will be creating their very own art pieces. It could be a painting, a sculpture, a drawing, something with clay, paper, or beads. Nothing is impossible and everything is acceptable. Whatever they see or imagine in their eyes they will create. Now, all we need is the supplies, we have the imagination, so with your help and support, let the creating begin.
