I teach in a Title 1 school. The majority of my students are from a low-income background. Every student in our school receives free breakfast and free lunch due to the overall poverty in our area. My students come from diverse educational and literacy experiences. For most of my students, my classroom provides their first educational experience.
Experiences in kindergarten provide the building blocks for a successful educational career!
My students are eager to learn and ready to blossom into lifelong learners! I am searching to provide those tools for my students!
Literacy centers are a big part of the kindergarten day. During center time, the students work either independently or cooperatively with a small group to reinforce skills, we are learning at the time. Students need centers that will foster learning and keep them engaged.
The Hot Dots system will enable them to work independently while I work with students for individual remediation.
This learning system will help my students on the level of learning that they are functioning at, differentiating the learning as needed. For instance, some students may need work on the ABC's while others are ready to blend sounds, read sight words, and begin the reading process.
These Hot Dots can also be used during the math block to reinforce number knowledge, patterns, shapes, and one-to-one correspondence during math centers.
